With the world wide announcement that the USA and UK were providing Australia with Nuclear technology to build a submarine, the French would lose their contract. The Chinese were concerned that Australia would have total control of the South Pacific. A plan was hatched by a French spy to create an uproar. The Americans provided a new technology that stopped the Chinese cold. The Americans and British spy organizations were not keen on having the Chinese and the French creating havoc. The French recruited a low level Australian intelligence officer to attempt to stir up public opinion in Frances favor. The plan did not work.
