The journey began in Big Southern Hair & Highlights when two little girls
were born in Truway, Texas. One of them stayed in Truway with her
great aunt, Lottie Jean Trinity, owner of the Big Southern Hair Beauty
Salon. The other one was taken to Las Bonitas Ranch in New Mexico to
live with her great aunt, Thelma Louise Tune and Sam, the snow-white
burro.
The girls didn't meet each other until they turned fourteen. By then they
endured unexpected twists in their young lives, one of which was finding
a diary hidden in a cellar which turned out to belong to their mother. The
girls go on a quest to find out why they were separated and what
happened to their mom.
In Southern Grit & Glamour the twins are grown and though living apart,
spend lots of time together. They travel back and forth between Truway
and the ranch content with their lives until they discover that yet another
relative died mysteriously, someone whose name was never mentioned as
they were growing up.
CJ and Cara will have to go back in time to find out what happened. They
will travel through stories to an era when their great aunts were growing
up and hear about Southern Grit & Glamour, the music that tied the family
together, but also broke them apart.
