Allie's life for the last six months has been exactly what she's always wanted - quiet. The half-elven bookshop owner, living in a small town stuck between the human world and an elven Holding thought she had found a balance with who and what she was. But that balance is being challenged by the need to navigate elven society to plan her son's Naming Day, the elven equivalent of a first birthday party, an event that is turning out to be a lot more complicated than Allie expected. Before she can start to get a handle on that, and find a way to rein in her overly-enthusiastic in-laws, party worries get pushed aside when a high adept shows up to try to deal with the magical damage caused by the dark coven two years ago. Allie finds herself plunged into elven society further than she ever intended or wanted with intrigue on all sides and the certainty that these are challenges she can't meet, in a life she never wanted to have.Things go from tediously formal to deadly, and Allie realizes that she doesn't just have to fight for the life she really wants, but she's going to have to fight to keep her already Sundered world from plunging into an even worse reality. If that's possible.
