With no fertile men on the expedition, the women understand they are to be impregnated using artificial insemination from a sperm bank aboard Calypso.The Calypso books of the Gravida 2 Saga tell two stories. The primary story is of the lives of the individuals aboard the spaceship. The other tale deals with how the group works to advance their inherited Earth technology for the benefit of their descendants.
