It is an indispensable supplement to any Hebrew textbook. Rules and comments on style and use are presented in a simple, informative, and non-dogmatic manner, with examples from the language as it is actually spoken. In addition to the usual staple of verbs, nouns, and adjectives, the book covers ""little items"" such as pronouns, prepositions, prefixes, and discourse ties and ""big ones"" such as clauses, and sentences. It also touches upon a variety of ""how to"" questions of use. Students and readers more conversant with Hebrew will find interspersed in the text, in clearly demarcated sections, more complex structures and structural explanations, more nuanced discussions of linguistic issues, instructive historical notes and sample texts of diverse genres. Each unit in the book is self-contained, making it possible for the user or reader to pick and choose a topic independent of place and sequence of the book. All simple examples are voweled and translated whereas the more advanced ones are not. She has a MA in Linguistics from UC Berkeley, and an MA in TESOL from San Francisco State University.
