The musicians profiled here include the first director of the U.S. Navy Commodores, Marshall Hawkins; trumpeter Marvin Stamm; flutist Holly Hofmann; woodwind artist and educator Joe Eckert; trumpeter and educator Gary Langford; and brass performer, educator, and horn tester Jim Anastasi. All were interviewed for the book except for Mr. Anastasi, who passed away in 2021.
The final chapter addresses the potential future of jazz in the U.S. music market as jazz education programs grow and thrive throughout the country.
