Product Description

by Travis Hutchison (Author)

Raised on a mega ranch and wheat farm in "West River," South Dakota, I capitalized life with my brother Terry, who was one step older than me. The "spread" owned by my uncles and dad gave us unlimited opportunities as high-energy and unbridled kids bent on exploits.

As a kid and teenager, I was gifted or cursed with a bent for adventure and coloring outside the lines of societal normalcy. Or maybe it was a lack of understanding of the consequences of my idiocracy. If I ever had an "Off switch," I never found it. Some boys are born with daring, or is it stupid? That was me.

The accounts in my first book, LITTLE OUTHOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, documented some of my earlier brushes with death and acts of foolishness and sometimes courage. This volume moves from my childhood to my twenties in the 1940s-1960s on the Dakota prairie.

Several years ago, the comedian, Jeff Foxworthy, made famous his comic routine: You Might Be a Redneck, If .... He would complete the phrase with a hilarious take on a unique characteristic of a "redneck." With this in mind, You Know You're in South Dakota When ..., in The Little Outhouse on the Prairie Series, is proffered with the same tongue-in-cheek humor. If we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?
