Product Description

by Larry Goodson (Author)

Year of the Rooster is mostly a short story collection recorded from the memories of a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. The Stories are mingled with present day thoughts and actions so as to show how reccolections recollections] of war are triggered and intrude into the lives of some soldiers for decades after they leave the war zone. The opening paragraphs describe the old veteran relaxing in Hawaii, living his idea of what being a tourist should be and thinking nonsense. Then, he is jolted into the past that he has needed to forget every day since 1969. Author Biography

After serving two years in the U.S. Army the would be author returned to the Pacific North West in 1970 where he was rescued by the woods, waters and people he had always loved before. Back in his homeland he worked mostly in the timber industry and continued the life style he learned as a boy. After high school he read very little and wrote even less, so his writing experience began again where it had ended when he was a teenager. Year of the Rooster is his first attempt at putting his thoughts on paper. Perhaps a positive quality might be that it has not been influenced by the work of authors or textbooks. His wish is that Year of the Rooster be understood and enjoyed by some reader somewhere, sometime.
