Product Description

by A. Mark Massey (Author)

Too often projects involving technology do not create as much value nor help as much as they should. Adopting new systems can be particularly painful. Winning Strategies for Project Management is about creating real value and project success. Unlike most project management books it does not just repeat old traditional approaches of doubtful value. The book sets out effective, untraditional approaches and unconventional wisdom. Wisdom proven to work in real world project management.

Due to the success of these project management techniques, I was asked to teach technical and project management related materials in nine countries. Project management is not easy, but with the methodologies developed and laid out in this book, it is easier to accomplish your goals and deliver real value to all concerned. After you finish this book, you are unlikely to look at business and project management the same way again.

Enjoy the voyage!

Author Biography

I have 40 plus years implementing technology based systems for organizations large and small. I studied IT and business and developed the techniques documented in this book from these years of experience. My professional experience includes managing projects in both software development and computer networking. I became president of my own company which provided software and services to the U.S. Department of Education, the Department of Defense and the Federal Aviation Administration. Factually, my and my team's awards and commendations could fill a wall. This success led to managing international commercial projects and later teaching project management in Asia as they had a desire to understand modern western project management. I taught in China, South Korea, and other Asian countries; course delivery expanded to include Australia, Europe, South America and the US. After class, discussions of technology and project management with students would extend into dinner and late into the night. My professional technical certifications include Microsoft Certified Professional ID # 316 and two different Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certifications, plus a variety of other professional certifications.

By today's standards I started in the activities of business and showed an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age - by the time I was 6 years old I was selling vegetables from the family garden door to door.. These were classic small businesses: I cleaned floors and toilets, built inventory shelves and seasonal displays, did stockroom work, created catalogs and in our business, sold shoes.

Eventually, I attended and graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in Business specializing in Information Systems Technologies. While at GWU, I computerized my family's retail shoe stores to further enhance our excellent customer service and make us more competitive, in the process making decisions that involved, for a small family business, truly substantial amounts of money. These financial/technical decisions required an even stronger technical understanding. Therefore, I talked my way into classes in the College of Computer Science; including programming in binary and microcircuit design. This substantial technical background has helped me throughout my career.
