Product Description

by John Denton Day (Author)

The Wilderness Ranger has been called a real treasure. It is a hand-written journal of the author's experiences as the first official Wilderness Ranger/Federal Officer on the Pine Valley Mountains in Southern Utah. In its span of six years in the 1990s, the author, a real cowboy, rode alone on horseback, traveling through the rugged and treacherous terrain. Along the way he experiences many adventures with wild life, and questionable, sometimes scary, people. The book includes dozens of photos and maps of this extraordinary area making the reader feel as if he's along for the ride. The author states "Keep in mind this work was often done on the back of a horse, leaning on the side of a horse, on a rock, in my tent during a storm, sitting under a pine tree, or in a meadow or by the side of a creek - often in a rush, and without the help of a dictionary." "My Psych. Professor often said, "spelling is not a sign of intelligence." He was (is) the holder of three doctorate degrees, so with this in mind, I do apologize for any spelling and punctuation errors."
