Divorce: The subject that few married Christian couples ever want to talk about or even think about However, when marriage begins to go seriously wrong the subject of divorce may simply have to become a topic for discussion for the couple, even though they may hate to talk about it. But there is a problem for Christians, which is that it all depends on which Christian denomination you belong to. This is because some teach that divorce can never happen and that if a divorce is sought in the courts of the world this does not count with God and the couple will be viewed as "still married in God's eyes" or that they are committing adultery if they should happen to remarry. Now what if one partner continually seriously abuses the other over a long period of time? What can the abused partner do? Can the divorce process be triggered? Many denominations would say "no" to this unless the guilty partner has committed adultery. On this basis the victim is simply stuck in a life of suffering abuse or if they leave the family home they must suffer a life of loneliness with no remarriage in sight. So is there any solution for them? Yes, there is, in spite of all this confusion in the churches causing distress to victims of abuse. The answer is found by a thorough analysis of ALL the biblical data which numerous theologians and scholars have presented in recent decades. This third edition of my book "When Marriage Goes Wrong... Biblical Answers on Divorce and Remarriage" gathers up all that information and presents it in relatively concise form, but having to deal with the false arguments of those people who wish to drastically limit the options of such a victim of serious abuse. My hope is that those individuals and denominations who have a limited view of the grounds for divorce or who deny divorce completely will reconsider their position and seek to see God's love for his people who may be suffering such abuses. My further hope is that this book will give strong encouragement to victims of abuse in a so-called Christian marriage and will give them a scripturally sound basis for them to take action to improve their life of service to God while knowing that they have His approval. However, nothing presented in this book advocates any "easy" divorce, that is divorce just because one seeks a possibly "better" partner or for any other weak unbiblical reason.
