Author Biography

MARVIN L. COVAULT LIEUTENANT GENERAL, US ARMY RETIRED Marv Covault has 32 years of military experience in leadership positions, strategic analysis, teaching, organizational development, mentoring and advising senior leaders. As commander of an Army Division, he managed budgets in the hundreds of millions of dollars and was responsible for the readiness of the Army's most rapidly deployable Division. In his last assignment in Naples Italy, Marv was the Chief of Staff of a multi-national (Turkey, Greece, Italy, Great Britain and US) organization involved in all aspects of US and NATO operations in the Balkan Peninsula and the Mediterranean Region. He has also traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Rim advising the Commander-in-Chief, Pacific, on strategic policy. Duty in Germany, Panama and two tours in Viet Nam rounded out a wealth of international experience. Since leaving the military, Marv has provided live commentary for CNN, testified before Congress, been a senior mentor for European exercises, worked extensively with Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory on revolutionary capabilities for joint warfighting, served the Secretary of Defense on the Defense Science Board, done public speaking and engaged in private consulting work. He holds a BS in business from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Public Administration from Shippensberg University. He is President of Global Perspectives Inc., a consulting company.
