Forster's novel of gay love, Maurice, remained unpublished throughout his lifetime, Glenway Wescott's long story "A Visit to Priapus" was also destined to be a posthumous work, buried from 1938 until this century in Wescott's massive archive of manuscripts, journals, notebooks, and letters. The autobiographical story is about a literary man, frustrated in love, who puts aside his pride and makes a date with a young artist in Maine. Author Biography
Until his death in 1961, John T. Curtis had been for many years a professor of Botany at the University of Wisconsin. A scholar of international standing, he had served on advisory panels of the National Science Foundation and had held posts such as the Research Director of the Société Haitiano-Américaine de Développement Agricole and Chairman of the Wisconsin State Board for Preservation of Scientific Areas
