Product Description

by Edward T. Duranty (Author)

Eighteen years old Joseph Milner from Newport, Rhode Island, enlisted in the United States Navy. Completed submarine training with orders to report aboard the USS Bonefish (SS-223). An electrical injury admitted him to the base hospital. The Bonefish left port and was lost at sea.Re-asigned to the USS Astro (SS-309) Joe began to write his recollections during three search and patrol missions inside the Bay of Toyko. Joe Milner was an unwavering servant of the Navy's Silent Service. His main desire was that the new generations of Americans never forget the sacrifices bestowed by the diesel submarine and their crews in the triumphant victory of World War II.
