Product Description

by Kerry Roeser (Author), Marye Roeser (Author)

Saddle up and ride the switchback trails of the Mammoth Lakes Area Sierra as you read fascinating accounts of this magnificent region and stories of life at Sierra pack stations. Ride along with Marye and Lou Roeser and their family through breathtaking scenery, with their horse and mule companions, and long hours of hard work as they face daily challenges and exhilarating adventures. Discover little known stories of adventures - "Behind the Scenes." Raising four children, in this venturesome lifestyle, was a step back in time from the modern busy urban world. This captivating collection of stories, historical articles and accounts will give you a seat at the dinner table listening to the exciting reports of the events of the day.
Author, Marye Roeser, long an integral part of the Sierra recreational mule packing industry, is a writer, historian and painter of the Sierra scene. From her first summer job in Mammoth Lakes during her college years where she met her future husband, Lou Roeser, to purchasing the historic Mammoth Lakes Pack Outfit, she has been involved with recreational packing and ranching interests. She is a former school teacher and raised four children who grew up being a part of the family businesses. Her fascination with the eastern Sierra led her to study and absorb all the history and natural history she could learn which she so expressively writes about. The Roesers live at their mountain rimmed ranch and painting studio in the Antelope Valley of Northern Mono County, California.
