Product Description

by Kimberly Regan (Author)

A true story of finding and believing in oneself enough to keep going when the world gives up, and you want to quit.

Unbroken: Road to Freedom is a purposeful memoir that brings readers inside the world of generational familial dysfunction that feeds on poverty, oppression, and domestic violence.

An inspirational book for women, layers of the story hidden in the deep corners of everyday life. Layers that unfold and depict underlying universal human struggles.

The American suburbs are far out of reach as Leigh (Kimberly) and her siblings delve into the world of children lost in transition.

Poverty slowly infiltrates and permeates the daily lives of a seemingly normal family facing financial hardship. Struggles lead the family in a dark downward spiral of homelessness, drugs, crime, incarceration, violence, and abuse. Leigh, fueled by rebellion, refuses to give in to poverty and oppression, and she turns to the streets.

Leigh became a runaway at thirteen amidst the backstory of growing up in the projects where systemic familial dysfunction was normal. Eventually, she placed herself in foster care at fourteen and was forced into marriage at fifteen to an abuser. She then escaped a life-threatening situation in hiding by seventeen.

Leigh knew she had to change the trajectory of her life to survive and truly live.

She pursued an education, confronted her roots, and faced who she was supposed to be. Her unstoppable courage, relentless strength, and determination brings a force against poverty, oppression, and abuse. And toward freedom.

This homeless to Harvard story is about the power of one person's journey to leverage knowledge and disrupt poverty to change the world. The story transcends time with tender moments in contrast to harsh realities.
