Product Description

by Paul Carter (Author)

Paul C. Carter's TRACKING WHITETAILS: Answers to Your Questions is an in-depth look at the art of tracking whitetail deer in snow. Packed with detail and written in an interesting and understandable format, the author identifies the essential and varied skills necessary to become consistently successful at taking deer by tracking them through their domain; and methodically guides the reader in how to acquire these abilities. The text is supported by more than 100 photographs which illustrate the author's observations and recommendations. Although written primarily for those who prefer the challenges of one-on-one hunting from the ground, TRACKING WHITETAILS contains information and insights that would give anyone a better understanding of whitetail deer and the sign they leave behind, and make any reader a better deer hunter.

Author Biography

Paul C. Carter has been hunting whitetail deer for almost forty years. In addition to his hunting achievements in pursuit of North America's most-hunted animal, he has hunted and taken numerous big game animals from Mexico to Alaska, many with a muzzle- loading rifle. Besides whitetails, his other hunting passion is wild sheep, and the mountains they inhabit. He has two Grand Slams of North American wild sheep to his credit, one of which was accomplished with a muzzleloader sporting open sights--the first and only time this is believed to have been done. Paul is married to Janet, his wife of thirty-two years. They have two grown sons and currently live in Dalton, Massachu- setts, where they enjoy their country home and the wildlife that frequents the property, especially the deer.
