After she postpones her trip, intent on making changes to her life, it comes as a shock to learn that her husband, who has threatened revenge, has found her haven.
Pushing on with her quest, Jo eventually finds a place to call home. After a rocky start, all appears to be well. Jo fits into the small community by working as a nanny for an acquaintance. Her friendship with a married man causes gossip, and Jo finds herself at loggerheads with large sections of the community. When things unravel, Jo is left vulnerable and defenceless against her husband's bullying behaviour.
