As the 1970s drew to a close and changes in music, fashion and attitudes collided to form Punk, Sheila Rock was right at the heart of the electrifying youth movement.

Author Biography

Sheila Rock was born in the United States and has lived and worked in London since 1970. Since 1979, she has had a successful career photographing the entertainment and music industry. Subjects include artists such as Sting, Paul Weller, Enya, Yossou N'Dour, Sinead O'Connor, Placido Domingo, Bryn Terfel, Sir Simon Rattle, and institutions such the Royal Opera and the Royal Ballet in London. In addition to being featured in numerous books, magazines, and private commissions, her work is housed in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London. The photo-journalistic images of Punk in this book were taken in the early stages of her career. She continued to capture the changes in youth culture and music for over a decade while working with magazines such as The Face. She is currently working on a number of fine art projects and exhibits internationally.
