An unresolved murder of Macleod's former colleague. A wall of silence within the ranks to the point of death. Can New DI Emmett Grump pull the blind and lay a thirty-year-old mystery to rest?
Installed by DCI Macleod in the new Inverness cold case unit, DI Emmett Grump must contend with current and former officers who will not talk about a murder over three decades old. Assisted by DS Sabine Ferguson, Grump must shake off the persistent cold shoulder as he finds a cancer within the force hidden for many years. Shunned and mocked, Grump and Ferguson find their own lives threatened as the long-established veil crumbles.
