His fieldwork in the West Indies and Yucatán highlighted the importance of acknowledging cultural differences and challenging institutional indifference, leading him to found Yale University's first bilingual mental health clinic for Latino patients on the East Coast and to dedicate more than two decades to supporting veterans' mental health. As his journey unfolds, Abad confronts essential questions about modern medicine and psychiatry. Through his experiences, he reflects on history, mortality, and the search for purpose.
