This book contains the history of the Van Hoven family, many of whom left the Netherlands for a better way of life. Many settled in Zeeland, Holland and Grand Rapids, Michigan. They raised strong families who were good and faithful workers, and they set an example of sacrificing for those they loved. Out of gratitude and a sense of responsibility, they contributed in many ways to their new homeland, and to the communities in which they lived. Their love for God was evident in their family lives, and they shared their faith with others. My Van Hoven ancestors' many sacrifices made their lives difficult at times but we, their descendants, benefitted greatly. Many of them left great examples for us to follow, and I will be forever grateful. - Norma Alkema
