Product Description

by Hilda Maria Gomez (Illustrator), Jose Carlos Osorio (Translator), Scoot Baumann (Translator)

Since time immemorial, the Darien has been a region of mysteries and legends shared between Colombia and Panama on their border. It is one of the most inhospitable jungles in the tropics and has one of the most beautiful and dangerous seas to navigate. From there the Pacific Ocean was discovered and the conquest of America began; the legends of the most famous pirates of the Caribbean were born and it was witness of the first romance between an indigenous princess and a conqueror. The events narrated here bear witness to that air of fantasy and mystery that is breathed in the Darien region. Everything told in them really happened. I witnessed the events: the unexpected appearance of a jaguar in a forgotten town; the curious transformation of a witch; a deceased with several wakes and two deaths; the fantastic apparitions to a nun lost in the jungle; and an ancient and beautiful tule legend, "The Son of the Luna ". I have only transcribed in a literary way what happened in the region, hoping that it is to the liking and enjoyment of the readers.
