Derek Stanton was born on May 20th 1951, along with his twin brother Bob. Known as the terrible twins, their childhood was a tapestry of Joy, sorrow, hardship, poverty, ridicule and fun. A World War two decorated, beer drinking Sargent as a father. A gentle happy mother. We spent considerable time bent over dads knee. Mom the glue that kept the family on some kind of coherent normalcy. A puberty through hell and back, sorrow, loneliness and anger, a search for meaning and happiness. Derek played professional soccer for several teams in Canada and the USA. He also participated as a Washington State staff coach and an Olympic development coach finally using those skills to bring the word of God into the USA, Honduras, Uganda, Rwanda, the Sudan and the UK.
