Author Biography

Ellen Porter is the author of The Red Hawk and The Last Chief of the Chaushilha. The books, as well as future sequels in the series The Redskins, focus on the fictional Native American family The Redskins. Ellen chose this name to honor Reddy Redskin, who served as the mascot of Chowchilla High School its first 100 years, until it was ordered by the State of California to stop doing so. The first two books examine what life might have been like for Reddy's great-grandparents and other ancestors.
