Product Description

by Carol Marra Porto (Author), Rick Doten (Editor)

She was born and raised in a small coal mining town. She moved to the Washington D.C. area and worked in the federal government as a steno. She then became a military officer's wife and was in this role for 23 years. She balanced her life supporting her spouse's career, raising three children, completing her BA and MA.Later in life starting an Addictions Treatment business. At 77 years old she sold that business, and for first time in her life found herself free to do what she wanted, when she wanted. This is where she learned the joys of retirement. Having spent her entire life in service to family and community, she discovered the wonderful freedom of retirement. She has found this to be her most fulfilling time of her life. It so moved her that she wrote a memoir of her observations of this golden time to share with others. She hopes, not only to entertain, but to bring encouragement to those concerned about retirement, or already in retirement through humor by her observations about how different everything is from food to hobbies, nature, social activities, and even postage stamps.
