Nearly twenty years following her father's death, the author came across a military shoulder patch in his army photo album. Knowing little about her father's army service, she began to search the internet using a description of the patch-black background, white eagle's head. From there she began to join together the missing puzzle pieces, even meeting men that completed basic training in the same company as her father.
