Product Description

by Katty Kaunang (Author), Mayumi Haryoto (Editor), Chike Tania (Illustrator)

Many illnesses go beyond the sniffles and a fever, leaving a permanent mark. Yet, these challenges don't have to define us. The Good Red Crayon tells a heartwarming story to inspire children facing adversity. Through the tale of Red, a once vibrant crayon who falls ill, the book explores themes of acceptance, enduring friendship, and the unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Red's story draws inspiration from my brother who battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Witnessing his bravery and resilience sparked the idea for Red, a character who would inspire others facing similar challenges. The story revolves around Red, the vibrant red crayon, always eager to help others. Red experiences the fatigue, shortness of breath, and the appearance of red spots - a subtle nod to the decreased platelets in AML patients. But Red doesn't give up. It learns to adapt, embracing its unique condition and finding new ways to contribute, demonstrating the power of resilience in the face of immense challenges.
