Product Description

by Tom Finton (Author)

This is the story of Tom Finton, Lieutenant Long Hair, a college student, ROTC cadet, anti-war protester and Army Signal Corps Communications Officer during the turbulent late 1960s and early 1970s. His story starts and ends in Virginia. In between his travels take him from Indian Town Gap, Pennsylvania for basic training to Bien Hoa, Vietnam where he served with distinction as a Communications Officer with the 1st Cav. He never humps through the boonies. He never fires a weapon except on the rifle range, though at times he is armed with a .45, .38 and M-16. On more than one occasion he butts heads with "the Brass." When necessary he stands up for personal liberty. He's protective of those who serve under him. And always, he's amazed by the people he encounters and the events swirling around him, the surreal happenings that lead to the expression "The Folks Back Home Won't Believe this."
