Product Description

by Gary Andrew Lewis (Author)

The essential Toilet Book of Physics is a short and entertaining introduction into the socially relevant cutting edge world of physics. Aimed at the general reader, the book presupposes no prior knowledge nor experience in the subject, only a genuine curiosity and interest in broadening perspective. In twelve jargon free accessible chapters, the book covers the essential areas of the science, from relativity to quantum mechanics, from particle theory to cosmology, and much besides. Each topic is approached from a historical viewpoint, engaging the reader on a whistle-stop tour ending with the most up to date theories and ideas in the particular field. Finally, for the truly inspired, there is a recommended list of further reading and great videos and podcasts not to be missed.

Originally from North Wales, Gary Andrew Lewis studied at Dinas Brân Comprehensive School in Llangollen, Denbighshire, before earning his physics degree at the University of Durham in 1986. In 1991 he moved to Spain where he completed an M.B.A. at the IESE Business School. His professional career has been dedicated to sales and marketing in the fmcg & fashion sectors. He has two children, muddles about in five languages, and currently lives near Barcelona.
