Book 1: 458 Miles and 24 Days, tells the story of Oz and his family in the days immediately following a manmade electromagnetic pulse terrorist attack that cripples the United States's power grid. Oz is separated from his family and must begin the journey of traveling 458 miles to reach them. Along his way, he learns that his responsibilities lie well beyond his own and that others unknowingly become dependent upon him. Meanwhile, Nicki must learn to survive and protect the family in a crumbling world without him.
This new world is one of darkness, survival, perseverance, and adaptability, but also one that proves the importance of family. They had prepared, but would their skills and training be enough to unite them and see them through this disaster?
