Product Description

by Armitage Robinson D. D. (Translator), Armitage Robinson D. D. (Introduction by), Irenaeus Of Lyons (Author)

In a day of many and varied denominations, one might wonder what the doctrine and belief of the unified apostolic church looked like. Due to a modern day discovery of an ancient, lost manuscript, now we know. The Demonstration of the Apostolic Preaching is a faithful trasmission of what the intellectual Christian was taught in the second century. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, famed as the subduer of heretics and as the most brilliant Chrisitian mind of his day, now brings us this early body of doctrine, being only decades removed from the apostles of Christ.

Author Biography

St. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons (115-202 AD), was a sharp and formative force in the early church. As a hearer of Polycarp, who was a hearer of John the Apostle, he is a veritable grandson to the true apostolic teaching. Most famous for his work "Against Heresies," he fought persistently to maintain the traditions handed to him in the face of gnosticism and error. He stands tall in history as an example of sure apologetics and guaranteed orthodoxy.
