The Country Girl and the City Squirrel is based on a true story. My nieces' moved to Nashville for their jobs. Ashton, really enjoyed living in the city, while Andrea was happier in the country. She befriended a squirrel, whom she named Stevie.
Feeding him, and having him in the yard, reminded her of her parents' home when she was growing up. She eventually adapted to the city, and helped the little squirrel survive. I think this story can help children who have had to move, or change schools, feel a connection with Andrea and Stevie.
Adjusting to a new way of life is difficult, and their story shows how our pets, and helping others can make us happy. I hope a message of love, kindness, and sharing will be instilled in those who read Stevie's story.
