For many years I heard Doris Pickering's name and knew she wrote materials for ladies' meetings, but it was not until 1993 that I actually met her. We found out that we had much in common and soon became good friends. Doris served with her husband, LeeRoy, in the ministry for over 40 years--as a pastor's wife for 35 years and then in evangelism for 7 years. She wrote 32 books and started Christian Creation website to make her materials available to others. What a blessing she was to pastor's wives all across our country. I still hear her name mentioned in the churches where I go. When Doris found out I had written a few skits for ladies she encouraged me to put them together in a book and she advertised them on her website. Later she encouraged me to do the same with my Bible studies. In 1996, Doris asked me to speak at her ladies' retreat on the subject, "The Beauty of Holiness." It has taken me several years to put this study into book form but Doris is the reason for this study. The Lord took Doris home to heaven on February 20, 2006. I appreciate so much the encouragement she was to me over the years and I miss her very much.
Author Biography
Linda Singletary grew up in a pastor's home in Ohio. After graduating from college in 1959, she moved to Florida to teach in a Christian school. There she met and married Bert Singletary, who was also a pastor. In 1966, the Singletarys moved with their two small sons, Mark and Stephen, to New Mexico, where the Lord gave them a daughter, Susanna. Bert pastored Manzano Baptist Church in Albuquerque, for almost thirthy-six years. During those years, Linda taught ladies' Bible studies in her church, and then began writing lesson books for ladies. In 2002, Bert retired from the pastorate, but has continued to minister by preaching in churches, and conducting a daily radio program which airs on the Navajo reservation. Linda has continued her ministry to ladies by speaking at retreats, banquets, and other events and through her writing. Her favorite scripture is Psalms 34:1-4, "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
