Product Description

by Dan McCauley (Author), Jo Loring-Fisher (Illustrator)

A family walk in the rain helps a young girl gain perspective and appreciate nature in all its forms.

Watching rain dance down her window, a child is feeling cooped up and gloomy because she can't go outside. Then her dad comes home and insists that they go on their evening walk, rain or no rain. Together Dad, the girl, and her little brother take the time to watch the rain as it dances. And they dance too. When the rain becomes a downpour, they find shelter under a tree, where they take the time to listen to the rain as it drums out a rhythm. They drum too. When it's time to go home, the girl no longer feels sad about the rain.

The Thank You, World series features lyrical stories about appreciating nature, connecting with our senses, and being present in the moment. These soothing books help young readers let go of stress, observe without judgment, and remain optimistic--even when the sun isn't shining. Thank You, Rain:

  • Demonstrates the benefits of a positive attitude
  • Models how to get in tune with nature's rhythms
  • Encourages slowing down to mindfully observe the world around us
  • Includes discussion questions to build on the story's themes

Thank You, Rain shows young readers how to reduce stress by focusing on the beauty of nature and finding the silver lining in less-than-ideal situations.

Author Biography

Dan McCauley is a writer and educator who grew up in New York City and is based in Los Angeles, California. Raised by little league coaches, a caring community, and his family's love, Dan pursued his passion for teaching and storytelling at NYU. Whether coaching on little league baseball fields, teaching in middle and high school classrooms, or telling stories, the question that continues to inform Dan's work is: what helps young people heal, grow, and thrive?
