Author Biography
Dolly Yates was born Dorothy Mary Robson the third daughter to Tot & Ina Robson on August 30, 1919 in Durham County, England. She grew up in a working class family and loved going to school. The age of 14 was a turning point for Dolly when she responded to the claim of Christ on her life. From a young teenager she began speaking in public about her faith and continues to this day. She married her only sweetheart George in 1940, and a son was born in 1941. When her son Paul grew he married and shortly after came to live with his wife in the U.S.A. In her thirties she learned to play the piano. In her fourties she took up swimming. In her fifties she began painting and horseback riding. She became a widow in her sixties, during which time she adjusted and came to live with son Paul and his wife in America (where she later became an official US citizen in 2005). Her seventies found her taking a missions trip to the Philippines and in her eighties we find her learning to use the computer and writing this, her first book. She is the beloved mother of one son, three granddaughters, and 11 great grandchildren. She is affectionately known as "Granma Dolly" by all who have the joy of knowing her. She still keeps very active in many areas, and we all look forward to see what she decided to take on in her nineties!
