T: Stands for Truth. Living my Truth, having to experience this life as a Latina Transsexual in the inner city of Chicago. A life that few will ever have to endure. It opened my eyes to a whole different set of rules, boundaries, attractions and deep seated ignorance. The battle against the binary, living in a social structure that is not set up for you. The beauty of living your Truth sometimes comes at a price. Trans people Transition for the most part to be happy, fulfilled and to put at ease the battle between the mind and body. Most Trans people live moderately successful lives, others live a life fighting, resisting the gender norms. As I now understand my life and the way it is perceived, I also understand how blessed I am to continue to experience this world. Educating and enlightening society on the realities of this beautiful and resourceful community can be the key to unlocking the oppression that Trans people face.
