It is not known for certain why they were built but they are believed to have a ritual or ceremonial purpose and are often aligned to the sun or moon and many were also burial sites.

He travels from Scotland, to Wales and England, and surveys not only the famous sites of Stonehenge and Avebury but many other stone circles throughout Britain. From Orkney and the Hebrides and the Scottish mainland, to Northern England including the Lake District, Wales, the heart of England and the South Western counties of England, the huge variety of stone circles around Britain are revealed.

Author Biography

David J. Evans is a photographer residing in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. His passion for photography concentrates mostly on landscape and nature photography but he has also been photographing stone circles and other megalithic stones around Britain for a number of years.
