Product Description

by Brett Hendrickson (Illustrator), Wayne Kosaka (Illustrator), Rich Ayling (Photographer)

Sordid Stories of an Ordinary Family is a humorous collection of short stories revolving around the quirkiness of an ordinary family living in a small town in rural America. The author combines a unique blend of storytelling styles- the charm of a Norman Rockwell painting gone awry with a sordid twist of Steven King. The stories have their over the top moments and can be a scary experience for the sensible person. Growing up mostly unsupervised, the children use murder, betrayal and trickery as forms of entertainment. The stories explore how the family deals with tragedy, birth defects, and disabilities by relying on their individual strengths. Gina Rae combines satire with a frank look at quirky human behavior, believing that a day without irony would be a dull day indeed. She asks, "Why be sad when you can take hardship and turn it into entertainment?"

Author Biography

GINA RAE HENDRICKSON lives in California and allowed her last boyfriend to rob her of her long time spinsterhood by marrying him. She has no children that she is aware of, but enjoys her stepchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as those she helped raise along the way. This book is a partial installment for a larger project which Gina Rae is currently writing along with another nonfiction book on how we can create the life we want, moment to moment, with the everyday decisions we make. Early in her career development she was a lumberjack where she learned some critical negotiation skills and developed the muscles of a female Hercules. When Gina Rae is not writing, she is a professional negotiator and mediates workplace disputes. Her motto is "Improve Your Negotiation Skills, Improve Your Life." To that end, she has restored thousands of working relationships by mediating workplace disputes since 1989. Gina Rae is a corporate trainer on negotiation and conflict management and helps people become skillful in working together. Gina Rae is a negotiation coach and helps people develop strategies for challenging negotiations. Gina Rae Hendrickson is a nationally published author, including the audio CD called Why Nice Doesn't Work and What You Can Do About It. She has appeared on National Public Radio and CNN regarding the topics of negotiation and problem solving. Ms. Hendrickson completed the Harvard Program on Negotiation, and is a Certified Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, which is the study of communication and how people receive information, learn, and set goals.
