Product Description

by Nasreen Islam (Author)

The author was once presented with a book entitled: The Nothing Book, which asked the question, "Wanna make something of it?" This started the process of compiling short anecdotes about life in Bangladesh (former East Pakistan). Written from memory and based on conversations with elderly relatives, this book brings back evocative scenes, the grim realities of life, and the fun times of childhood and early adulthood. Some of the anecdotes have been posted on a Facebook site called "Memories of East Pakistan/Bangladesh 1947 to 1974."

Nasreen Islam is the daughter of the late Squadron Leader Saidul Islam and Ramola Islam. She was a military brat and spent her early childhood in Pakistan, moving from cantonment to cantonment. In 1957, her father retired from the Pakistan Air Force and the family moved permanently to Dhaka, Bangladesh.
