Product Description

by Joseph Akoi Zeze (Author)

Between 1827 and 1830, a group of free black slaves, comprising men, women and children embarked on a perilous journey, sailing across the Atlantic to the West African Coast. Little did they know they were heading to a colony in turmoil and on the brink of war. Fearing a threat to their heritage and to stop the locative slave trade by the settlers who arrived earlier, some powerful hostile indigenous rulers vowed to wipe them out and destroy the colony. Preparing for its defense, the head of the colonial administration was mortally wounded. Acting Governor Ebenezer Butler must move faster to avert an inter-tribal conflict, an attack on the colony and halting the British and French encroachment on lands claimed by the colony. Joseph Akoi Zeze, the author of Sassaywoo, presents this new masterpiece, inspired by historic events.
