Their quest and travels take them to a number of places where Bean and company encounter and have to deal with bizarre characters and situations that include; dangerous surf Nazis, killer Haitian drug runners, members of a Cuban underground, a Parrothead extremist cult, incompetent Mexican pirates, mysterious Bayou gypsies, far out California crackpots, and more; all the while being pursued by a hit man Catholic priest.
