Product Description

by Americana Jon Abbott (Author)

This title covers the first three seasons of Stargate SG-1 and the first two seasons of The X-Files, with accompanying articles on both series. Jon Abbott's knowledge of TV science-fiction series spans four decades. Born in London in 1956, and moved down to Brighton in the early '60's where he remains today, he remembers watching the U.K. TV premieres of Doctor Who, Lost in Space, Thunderbirds, The Man from UNCLE, Star Trek, Time Tunnel, and many others, and has been writing professionally about all genres of TV since 1982. During that time, he has written regularly for all the major science-fiction magazine titles at one point or another, including Starburst, TV Zone, Dreamwatch, SFX, Infinity, Starlog U.K., DarkSide, and Cult Times, as well as mainstream titles like Video Today, Video World, Video Buyer, Stills, What Video, What Satellite, Home Entertainment, Comedy Review, and many others, including trade papers Media Week and Television Weekly. His final magazine work, before retiring to work on book projects, was contributing TV news to Starlog U.K. and retrospective features on vintage SFTV to TV Zone's Fantasy Flashback pages, as well as reviewing third season Stargate. Since then, he has had two books published in the U.S. by McFarland, and self-published several other successful titles on Amazon's Createspace platform. His interests include pop culture in all its forms, especially 1950's sci-fi films, 1960s TV and comics, early 1970's American cinema, and classic animated cartoons.
