The Royal Arch is a Masonic degree as well as a rite of several degrees that are close companions of the initial three Masonic degrees. Many Freemasons consider it the logical conclusion of the Masonic initiation. It was conferred in America in the eighteenth century, and continues to be given today. Author Biography
William J. Paterson was librarian and curator at the Pennsylvania Grand Lodge and Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. He is also the author of A Suggested List of Books on Freemasonry for Readers of Masonic Literature. Dr. Paul Rich is a life member of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts, whose work includes the Mark Master, Past Master, Most Excellent Master, and of course the Holy Royal Arch.
