Product Description

by Yonatan Green (Author)

In Rogue Justice, Israeli-American attorney Yonatan Green provides indispensable critical insight into the heavily disputed state of the Israeli legal system, and into the controversial process by which the Israeli Supreme Court gradually attained judicial supremacy. Through exploration and discussion of key judicial decisions and novel doctrines developed by the Court since the 1980s, while providing critical perspective and context, Green illustrates the most severe flaws that have come to dominate and define the Israeli legal system, with effects extending far beyond the law and deep into Israeli politics and society. Anticipating the inevitable resurgence of the Israeli constitutional crisis and related societal woes, a nuanced and in-depth understanding of the power wielded by the Israeli Supreme Court - and of the arguments of those objecting to it - will prove crucial for anyone seeking to make sense of the debate surrounding Israeli law and government, and indeed of many related contemporary issues in Israeli politics, culture, national security, and economics.
