Life in cities implies a higher risk of accidents in pets, which have been increasing in the last years. On the other hand, the prolongation of life expectancy in canines and felines has caused a higher incidence of degenerative conditions due to age, such as osteoarthritis, among others. Fortunately, the advance in the sophistication of the available complementary diagnostic methods, such as magnetic resonance imaging, has gradually allowed a greater certainty in the diagnoses and therapeutics used. All this has generated the need for new therapeutic alternatives complementary to traditional treatments, and thus physiotherapy is gradually becoming an important integral part of the treatment. For the professional, the ultimate goal is usually the rehabilitation of the patient. The goal for most owners is simply for their pet to have the best quality of life. It is our obligation as professionals to practice our profession in pursuit of this goal. Thus arose the need to write this book, whose reading will be useful for both professionals and students.
