Product Description

by Rene C. Silva (Author)

This book was written by the youngest member of a family of 6 boys, whose grandfather unwillingly migrated to, and subsequently settled in the United States, specifically Orange County, California. This memoir details what impactful and tragic events led for this resettlement to occur; and also how the author's parents elaborately met in Mexico City and how harshly their lives together began once settled in the U.S.

Stories and anecdotes illustrate how the author's family coped living with an alcoholic father throughout their lives. After many years of verbal, and sometimes physical, abuse, and the predominant chaos and drama in the household, caused by his father being in a drunken state, finally ceased once he stopped drinking.

Furthermore, the author writes about each and every one of his siblings, and how each one of them have had a tremendous impact on his life. Being the youngest of the family allowed him to have a sharp, observant eye on the doings of his brothers, which he was able to learn a great deal.

The author also details several jobs he has had, particularly as an educator. He writes about his experiences, both positive and negative, in great detail. Also, he intricately conveys advice to anyone who is considering a career in teaching.

Lastly, the author writes about one of his hobbies: running. He became inspired to run after watching his brother complete a Marathon (26 miles) in 2 hours and 24 minutes!
