Product Description

by Candace Robertson-James (Author), Ian Newton (Illustrator), Gregg Robinson (Illustrator)

Children are constantly exposed to negative self-defeating images and messages. Developing a sense of identity and understanding who you are can be a daunting task. Sometimes, girls can begin to rely on unhealthy messages to shape their perspectives of themselves. The goal of this book is to inspire the development of a healthy self-concept even in a world where differences may not be celebrated, values may be challenged, and dysfunctional social norms are promoted. Reflections of Me encourages young girls to accept and love who they are.

Author Biography

Dr. Candace Joy Robertson-James was inspired to write Reflections of Me, by the women who participated in her dissertation research. She is a public health educator who seeks to promote health and wellbeing. She is also in the process of developing programs to engage, empower and encourage individuals to embrace a positive self concept, actualize their full God-given potential, and advocate for others in meaningful ways. She resides in the Philadelphia metropolitan area with her husband and two children.
