West Indian Chank Shell is the perfect shell for any home. These shells are primarily found in the Indian Ocean. This shell has large significance in both Hinduism and Buddhism as the word for chank comes from the Indian word shankha- meaning divine conch. These shells have been used as symbols fertility and snakes. These shells have a deep and beautiful history in South Asia.
This particular listing is for ONE RAW CHANK SHELL. They may have tip damage, lip damage, holes, etc. Please see photos for examples.
These shells show the beautiful organic nature of each shells life in the ocean. The rawness & natural flaws give each a story of it's own. These are relatively large for this species, sourced in 70s when our oceans were producing more mature, large shells. Grab a piece of history!
