Product Description

by Jander Temístocles de Oliveira (Translator), Domenico Barbera (Author)

The theme of this book: Prophets and prophecy in the New Testament, is a theme that deserves to be explored, not only because there is no unanimity of interpretations, but also and above all to try to understand what the New Testament has to tell us. Not to run after interpretations that could lead us away from the teaching of Jesus and the apostles. Such in-depth work requires, in particular, a scrupulous and rigorous exegesis of the various New Testament texts (since we are dealing with the subject with the data provided by the New Testament, without diminishing those of the Old Testament) and try to understand that what did Jesus and the apostles mean when they spoke of prophets and prophecies.Such an investigation, of course, will oblige us to review the 214 texts that, in the various verbal forms, are found in the New Testament, so that we can have a general picture and a complete panorama of the whole matter. Furthermore, such an examination will not exempt us from certain considerations and firm positions on some interpretations, certainly not animated by a polemical spirit but driven by the sincere desire to know the truth and to stick to it.
